Bihar is going to see increasing opportunities in brewery sector with Indian and foreign firms adding new production facility in the state over next few years. The state is possibly emerging as an attractive destination due to availability of cheap labour and raw materials and investment friendly government policies.
Over the last few years the law and order situation has also improved thereby allowing ample confidence to the investors for setting up new facilities, expanding existing facilities etc.
“Three major firms – United Breweries, Danish Brewery Company Carlsberg Group and Cobra Beer – are in the process to set up new units and will start production this year,” – C.K. Mishra, principal secretary, department of industries, Bihar.
UB Group (United Breweries): UB would be setting up a new unit near Patna. UB is also setting up a production unit to make litchi-flavoured wine. The company has leased litchi gardens and is setting up processing units in Muzaffarpur.
Cobra Beer, London: Is in an advanced state of setting up a new unit and targets more than tripling its production capacity in the state by next year.
