Online investment platform Vested raises $3.6 mn in seed round

Vested, a financial technology platform that empowers indian investors with access to the US stock market, has raised $3.6 million in seed funding from Inflection Point Ventures, Venture Catalysts, US-based Moving Capital, Ovo Fund, and TenOneTen Ventures.

Founded in 2019 by Darwin Arifin, Eric Huynh, Viram Shah, and Yinghan Lin, the company claims to have processed more than $100 million in trades in 2020, and said that more than half of the investors using the Vested platform are investing in the US market for the first time ever.

Viram Shah, CEO and co-founder of Vested Finance, said the company plans to utilise funds to accelerate product development “to create a seamless and cost-effective end-to-end US investing experience.” The online platform has a zero-commission, no minimum balance policy that allows investors to invest in US stocks, exchange-traded funds or stocks recommended by the platform.

Commenting on the fundraise, Gil Elbaz, partner at TenOneTen Ventures, said: “Vested is bringing this cross-border investment opportunity to India and beyond, allowing local investors to diversify globally by spreading out their risk, and we’re excited about the possibilities Vested will bring to individuals in India, Southeast Asia and around the globe.”

To facilitate transactions, Vested has partnered with more than 25 brokers, fintech, and wealth management firms in India, including Axis Securities, Kuvera, Angel Broking, and 5Paisa.
