Salesforce, a global cloud computing company that develops CRM solutions and provides business software on a subscription basis said that it would be creating 12,000 new jobs over the next year, including 4,000 positions in the coming six months.
The announcement was made by the CEO of Salesforce, Marc Benioff on his twitter account on Friday. The company employs nearly 54,000 workers globally.
Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Salesforce confirmed that it has witnessed significant demand for software that supports remote work and e-commerce. This made the company earn $5 billion in revenue in the recent quarter. Recently, Salesforce joined the Dow Jones Industrial Average index.
Despite performing well and generating good revenue, Salesforce announced in August that it would be laying off 1000 of its employees.
According to media reports, Salesforce could give the laid-off employees 60 days to find other positions in the company. With these new jobs, assuming there are positions the laid-off employees are qualified for, they could have a variety of positions from which to choose.
The company had 54,000 employees when it announced the layoffs, which accounted for 1.9% of the workforce. If it ends up adding the 12,000 news jobs in the next year, that would put the company at approximately 65,000 employees by this time next year.
