JSW Group, one of India’s largest business conglomerates led by Sajjan Jindal has hired Rakesh Srivastava, the former director for sales and marketing at Hyundai Motor India, as the firm is trying to enter into the electric vehicles industry.
Though there is no official confirmation from both sides, a senior executive at JSW Energy confirmed the move to ET.
According to several people in the know, Srivastava is part of the senior leadership team that will prepare a blueprint for helping the JSW Group achieve its automotive ambitions.
The firm has engaged with several Chinese carmakers for its electric vehicles venture, and is in talks with several state governments, including Gujarat and Maharashtra, for establishing a manufacturing facility.
Rakesh Srivastava left his place in Hyundai last month after serving six years in the company. Under his leadership, Hyundai’s market share grew to 17 percent from 14 percent.
Rakesh is a Science Graduate from Agra Univesity and holds Marketing & Sales degree from IIM Ahmedabad
He joined Hyundai India in 2012 as Vice President Sales after quitting from Maruti Suzuki as Chief General Manager & Commercial Business Head.
He worked for Maruti Suzuki for almost 14 years. Prior to the automotive industry, Srivastava has worked in the tobacco and paint industries.
