Ola-owned food ordering and food delivery firm Foodpanda has acquired Mumbai-based cloud kitchen venture Holachef for an undisclosed amount.
As a part of the acquisition, Foodpanda will take over Holachef’s employees and kitchens. Saurabh Saxena and Anil Gelra the founders of Holachef will be joining the leadership team of Foodpanda.
With this deal, Foodpanda will be stepping into the competitive cloud kitchen space which is currently dominated by companies like Faasos, FreshMenu, Swiggy, and Zomato.

Through the Ola platform, we also have an unmatched access to over 150 million customers and an understanding of their preferences. We have been able to bring an enhanced experience for millions of customers over the past year. We aim to build India’s largest cloud kitchen network that will be a major step in further elevating the food experience for our customers,” Foodpanda India’s chief executive Pranay Jivrajka said in the statement.
Currently, Foodpanda has over 1 lakh delivery partners and has access to over 150 million customers.

Last December, Ola acquired Foodpanda India from Germany-based Delivery Hero Group to make a re-entry in the food delivery business. At that time, Ola had also committed to investing another $200 million in the firm. Ola Café, Ola’s earlier food delivery initiative failed to take off in 2015.
