Pranav Mistry, will be leading STAR Labs (Samsung Technology & Advanced Research Labs.) He is well regarded for his work on "SixthSense". He has also been recognized as 'Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum in 2013.
Pranav Mistry joins the list of Indians to head major tech companies. He has been appointed as the President and CEO of STAR Labs (Samsung Technology & Advanced Research Labs), which is an independent entity of Samsung Electronics. He made this announcement through his LinkedIn post published on October 26.
Previously, he has held various roles in Samsung. Most recently he was Global Sr. VP and Head of Innovation at Samsung Mobile. He joined the company in 2012 as Director of Research, and was key to the launch of Samsung Gear smartwatch in 2013.
Pranav, joins the list of Indians heading major companies – Sunder Pichai, Google; Satya Nadella, Microsoft; Shantanu Narayen, Adobe etc. Pranav has been well recognised as a tech innovator – his research on SixthSense was awarded the 2009 Invention Award by Popular Science. He has also been recognised as the ‘Young Global Leader” by the World Economic Forum in 2013.
Pranav holds an MS & PhD in Media Arts & Sciences from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Masters of Design from IIT Bombay.
