Video Interviews – a similar concept had been kicked off in India in 2009, by Shine.com *
The concept of Video Interviews, integrated in a job portal, was also piloted by shine.com (from HT Media), in 2009. The product called Shine InterVIEW, offered a video interview service where in a candidate had to answer pre defined questions through a video interview. The interview could be reviewed by the hiring managers once the candidate was through with the same.
The product was focussed on addressing the travel costs as well as interviewer availability, aspects of conducting an interview. Video interview was also supposed to be a tool to save time on interviews by being able to quickly run through the video interviews of the applicants. Of course a video interview – either live or recorded, if executed well and with quality technology can allow you to get a better feel of the candidates.
The product was interesting with good potential, however it possibly suffered from implementation and usability issues, and was called off. As on date, it does not appear in shine.com’s portfolio of offerings.
