Rapido, an online bike taxi service aggregator has announced the launch of its operations in Mumbai. The launch in Mumbai is commenced with 2000 rider-partners and the company is aiming to expand to 200,000 riders in the coming two years.
Aravind Sanka, co-founder of the company said that with this launch the company is now present in all metro cities in India. The bike taxi aggregator which has initiated its geographical expansion 18 months ago is aiming for profitability in the next 18 months and has reached break-even in cities where it has been operating for more than a year.
The Covid-19 pandemic has affected the company’s expansion plans but its person-to-person delivery service and third party last-mile delivery service grew three-fold since the beginning of this year and also contributes to a quarter of the company’s revenue. However the primary focus of the company remains on the taxi service.
