Gurugram-based restaurant aggregator Zomato has made crucial changes in the leadership team. Akshant Goyal has been named the company’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Akriti Chopra will now lead people development for the company.
An alumnus of IIM-Ahmedabad and Delhi College of Engineering, Akshant Goyal co-founded PinCap and served as its CFO prior to Zomato. He was also an investment banker in Kotak Mahindra for a period of seven years. He has been a part of Zomato for four years and has also head corporate development for the company.
Akriti Chopra joined Zomato in November 2011 and was a part of the global growth and international operations teams. She has played an instrumental role in the company’s fund-raising and acquisitions activities as a qualified chartered accountant. She is a graduate from Lady Shri Ram College and has also served as Zomato’s CFO.
Covid-19 impacted the food industry severely as government imposed lockdown to contain the spread of the virus. Zomato also had to layoff jobs and go for pay cuts to survive the unprecedented situation. However, the food tech founder, Deepinder Goyal, informed through a tweet this month that the volume of food delivery have raised to pre-pandemic levels due to IPL and the festive season.
