Varsha Joshi appointed as the Chairperson of NDDB

Varsha Joshi, IAS officer and Joint Secretary, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, has been named the chairperson of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) by the government of India.

Varsha Joshi’s appointment will be effective from December 1, 2020 until further orders. She will take over as interim chairperson of the Anand-headquartered National Dairy Development Board.

She was previously Commissioner of North Delhi Municipal Corporation and before that, Secretary Power as well as Commissioner Transport, with the Government of NCT Delhi, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Govt of India.

She will replace Dilip Rath, who completes his tenure on November 30.

Dilip Rath joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1979 and served in different capacities under the State Governments of West Bengal and Odisha and the Central Government.

He was Joint Secretary in the Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries, Government of India from 2008 to 2010 and also served as the Chairman of Delhi Milk Scheme’s Management Committee. Mr Rath joined the National Dairy Development Board, India as its Managing Director on December 1, 2011 after taking early retirement from the Indian Administrative Service.

NDDB was created to promote, finance and support producer-owned and controlled organisations. NDDB’s programs and activities seek to strengthen farmer owned institutions and support national policies that are favourable to the growth of such institutions.
