JWT Singapore acquires majority stake in Hungama Digital Services in India

JWT Singapore ( owned by WPP) would acquire a majority stake in Hungama Digital Services Pvt Ltd. India. Hungama Digital Services is the digital and promotions marketing division of Hungama Digital Entertainment Private Limited.

Based in Mumbai, Hungama Digital Services was set up 13 years ago and its offerings include -  strategic planning, web design and maintenance, digital marketing, search engine marketing, social media optimization and communications strategy, rich media, viral marketing campaigns, merchandising, events and conference management. Hungama Digital Services has a client base comprising of Mahindra & Mahindra, Bacardi, Godfrey Philips, Britannia Industries, Tupperware India and Hindustan Unilever. The new entity formed will be called Hungama Digital Services and would be a full service digital agency specializing in digital marketing and social media solutions.

Statement by Colvyn Harris, CEO of JWT India – "The idea of the partnership is to build a digital offering for our clients so we can live up to being a ‘single source’ partner across all their marketing solutions needs. What will be most effective in the future is a new set of talented, digital high end specialists who will add new skills and capabilities to what JWT already offers to its clients. We want all our clients to be leaders in their respective categories."

Statement by WPP on the acquisition: “This investment continues WPP’s strategy of developing its networks in fast-growing and important markets and sectors. India remains one of the Group’s fastest growth markets, with revenues of approximately $500 million including associates.  The Group collectively employs around 12,000 people. In India, WPP has four of the top 12 creative agencies and four of the top 15 media agencies, according to The Economic Times of India.   Some WPP agencies, including JWT, have been operating in India for more than 80 years.”
