Your value proposition

You need to be able to communicate & convey your value proposition to people. Positioning is important and it helps. The value proposition (real) and value proposition (perceived) have to go hand in hand for desirable and sustainable positive outcomes.

Your Value Proposition

Your value proposition (real) depends on your learning’s, your insights and your ability to add value to people around you. In a work place scenario, it’s your ability to add value to the business or to a specific task.

Your value proposition (perceived) also depends on the way, you position yourself, and the way you are positioned by others. You can be treated like a expert & knowledge resource in one scenario and just another guy in another scenario. You can be considered as a helpful guy in one scenario and a trouble maker in another scenario.

You need to be able to communicate & convey your value proposition to people. Positioning is important and it helps. The value proposition (real) and value proposition (perceived) have to go hand in hand for desirable and sustainable positive outcomes.

Some of us, are not too concerned about blowing trumpets, we love to do our bit and disappear. That makes us happy. It makes us happy, in the short run.

Are we all too strong to live on with this happiness ? If we are, that’s great. I am fine with this idea on personal front. It is great to add value without expecting much in return. It’s good to help without being too vocal about the same, unless and until we dream of a future where in we need to leverage all the good work we have done (for example – a career in politics).

However, on work front, it really helps to be visible. Visibility helps over a period of time. Not all of us are strong , and not all of us can live with the thought of just doing great work, we also need to be appreciated, and we need to be respected for what we have done or what we are capable of doing. We have a need, for others to believe in our value proposition and our capability. It helps to speak. It helps to talk about ourselves. It helps to communicate.

It helps to work on your own branding & packaging, to convey your value proposition. Appreciation is not just about “real” quality, it’s also about the “perceived” value.
