GMR Group appoints Bithal Bhardwaj as Group CISO

Bithal Bhardwaj joins GMR Group as its Chief Information Security Officer. Bithal left GE to join the GMR Group. His role will be based out of New Delhi. 

Earlier, Bithal had served in GE for 13 years, handling many roles in the company. In GE, he was handling the role of Regional CISO leader, looking after Latin America, Russia, Europe, MENAT, Sub Sahara Africa, Asia Pacific, South Asia and Greater China. Bithal has a total experience of 21 years related to cybersecurity.

According to a recent APAC Cyber Resiliency and Risk Report, 98% of Indian companies surveyed said they were likely to invest more in security due to regulation. India is most likely to have ‘high’ impact (58%) of cybersecurity incidents on businesses compared with 42% in Singapore and 16% in Australia.

GMR Group is an infrastructure enterprise headquartered in New Delhi, and has been developing projects in high growth areas such as Airports, Energy, Transportation and Urban Infrastructure for three decades. Founded in 1978, the infrastructure conglomerate now ranks as the 4th largest private airport developer in the world and a major contributor to the Indian power sector.
