New York-based technology startup has secured $20 million in Series A funding round led by Coatue, 645 and Primary Ventures. Reshma Saujani, Girls Who Code founder, Founder of HelloFresh Bryan Ciambella, Robert Earl – Planet Hollywood Founder, Scott Belsky – Behance founder, others also participated in the funding round.
The tech startup plans to use the fund for market expansion and to further drive growth while also focusing on acquisition of new talent. According to a press statement made by the company – “Lunchbox plans to use the capital to scale growth nationally to serve the restaurant industry’s need for efficient and revenue-driven solutions to sustain the current economic depression”
Nabeel Alamgir, CEO, and Co-Founder of Lunchbox commented – “Our mission is to help restaurants survive this pandemic and thrive beyond it. When we started Lunchbox 18 months ago, we wanted to help restaurants with a strong ethos and identity speaks to their guests directly. That is more important now more than ever before. We’re honoured to be here with the Coatue team and to learn from their vast experience working with brands like Doordash, InstaCart, and many world-leading companies. Together we are ready to help restaurants realize a new level of success.”
Nabeel Alamgir started his journey as a busboy at Bareburger and then climbed his way to the top to become their CMO. In 2019, he left the NYC-based restaurant and founded Lunchbox with Hadi Rashid and Andrew Boryk. The startup helps restaurants build orders with their own websites and apps. It has recently partnered with Ordermark – which has raised $120 million in its Series C funding round.
